Corbeille de pain is a non-profit organization whose mission is to work with community partners to promote food security in the West Island of Montreal through programs that educate, build community and improve access to nutritious food.

Job Description:
The General Manager oversees the organization’s day-to-day activities. It ensures that the organization has a long-term strategy, including equity, inclusion and diversity, and that it makes consistent and timely progress towards its mission. This is a permanent full-time position (35 hours per week).
Responsibilities:
Program development and administration
- Manage the Annual General Meeting process.
- Provide leadership in the development of organizational and financial plans and programs, with the Board of Directors and staff, and implement plans and policies authorized by the Board of Directors.
- Maintain official files and documents and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Communications
- Ensure that the Board of Directors is fully informed of the state of the organization, and ensure Board participation in committees. Provide timely reports on program activities and liaise with all committees and their chairs.
- Actively participate in building partnerships and networks, and establish and foster good working relationships and cooperative agreements with funders, community groups and organizations.
- Represent the organization’s programs, activities and objectives to agencies, organizations and the general public.
Human resources
- Ensure the recruitment, orientation and training of all staff, both paid and volunteer.
- Contribute to the development and updating of job descriptions, ensure that regular performance appraisals are carried out and that sound human resources practices are in place.
- Ensure an efficient administrative team.
- Encourage staff and volunteer development and training, and help program staff link their specialized work to the organization’s overall program.
- Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates qualified staff and volunteers.
Budget and finance
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.
- Supervise payroll and ensure the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations.
- Research and solicit new funding opportunities and new financial partners to develop the organization.
- Ensure that annual and project accounts and budget reconciliations are drawn up and submitted to donors on time.
- Work with staff, the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors to prepare a budget and ensure that the organization operates within budgetary guidelines.
Requirements:
- Proven leadership, coaching and management experience.
- University degree in a field such as global food security, dietetics, community development or administration.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in human resources and project management.
- Knowledge of the non-profit sector, including fundraising, grant strategy and proposal writing.
- Solid skills in Google Workspace applications.
- Knowledge of food safety and the West Island of Montreal an asset.
- Experience in leading a results-oriented organization.
- Good understanding of development and the strategic planning process.
- Experience working with a board of directors.
- Experience in marketing, public relations and fundraising.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in French and English.
- An effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
