Located in Pierrefonds, the Table de Quartier du Nord de l’Ouest-de-l’Île de Montréal (TQNOIM) is an inter-sectoral, multi-network consultative body whose mission is to promote social development, improve the quality of life of the population and combat poverty and social exclusion within its territory.
The north end of Montreal’s West Island (Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève, Dollard-des-Ormeaux) is a vast and cosmopolitan territory, covering a variety of neighborhoods where different communities cohabit in distinct cultural and socio-economic landscapes. The TQNOIM works by and for the community, creating a space where citizens, community, institutional, collective and private partners, as well as local elected officials, can exchange ideas and take collective responsibility for social development issues.
Job Description:
The position of Social Development Project Manager is linked to the Food Community Development Plan, which aims to diagnose the local food system, maintain a dialogue with food system stakeholders and propose new land-use planning solutions for the development of a food community, with a view to ensuring greater food self-sufficiency and resilience in the face of numerous challenges, such as climate change.
Under the supervision of TQNOIM’s general management, and in collaboration with other TQNOIM employees, the Project Manager’s main mandate is to coordinate the deployment of the Plan de développement d’une communauté nourricière.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement the work steps required to implement the project;
- Design, plan and run events and activities as part of the action plan;
- Create a portrait of the food system;
- Draw up a diagnostic portrait of the feeder community;
- Develop strategies for mobilizing and consulting local stakeholders, with the mobilization and communications officer;
- Drafting of the feeder community action plan;
- Collaborate with other local food security projects, notably the TQNOIM and TQSOI Social Development thematic committees;
- Support with project budget monitoring;
- Evaluate the project;
- Ensure accountability for project implementation.
Requirements:
- Education and experience
- Training and/or experience in project management, social sciences, food safety or any other related field
- Good knowledge of community life, food security and vulnerability;
- Mobilization capacity;
- Writing skills in French and English;
- Ability to work as part of a team, in consultation and collectively;
- Sense of organization and responsibility;
- Ability to meet sometimes tight deadlines;
- Ability to manage several very different files;
- Proficiency in the following software and platforms is an asset: Office Suite;
- Knowledge of the West Island is an asset;
