Job Description:
We are currently looking for an Employment Advisor. Reporting to the General Manager, the Employment Counsellor is responsible for welcoming, guiding and following up job seekers.
She works closely with the other members of the CDEC LaSalle Lachine’s employability department. It also carries out various tasks associated with the normal operation of an employment advisory service. It takes part in consultation meetings aimed at improving the operation of the department and the organization in general.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome job seekers referred by Service Québec or other partners;
- Validate their eligibility for the Employment Assistance Service (EAS) Integration ;
- Offer individual coaching sessions: skills matching, CV and cover letter writing, job search techniques, job search strategies, mock interviews, use of social media;
- Follow up on the employment of individuals and participate in the drafting of quarterly reports;
- Achieve the program’s enrolment and return-to-work targets ;
- Enter information into the database ;
- Establish close links with employability resources and local employment center (CLE) agents.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in human resources, career development, counselling or other relevant field
- At least two years’ experience in employment counselling or intervention (individual or group approach)
- Very good knowledge of French and English
- Knowledge of MSI an asset
- Ability to establish a relationship of trust
- Intervene positively and effectively with individuals
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and teamwork skills
- Very good knowledge of the employability environment
- Ability to work with a wide range of customer profiles
- Interest in teamwork
- Active and empathetic listening
- Ability to understand the problems of adults with employment difficulties
- Knowledge of tools and software relevant to employment counselling (MSI, LGEstat, Indeed, etc.)
- Ability to work within a framework of commitment to the quality of services offered and the quality of customer service
