Job Description:
Bearing in mind that our services are recovery-oriented and refer to services determined according to participants’ personal goals and based on egalitarian and supportive relationships, the Deputy Manager must have the willingness and sensitivity to work with people living with mental health problems and create a friendly and positive working environment conducive to participants’ development.
The sous-chef is a key member of the culinary team, assisting the chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. The sous-chef is responsible for supervising kitchen operations, coordinating the activities of kitchen staff and ensuring the quality and presentation of the dishes served. He or she must possess solid culinary expertise, the ability to work under pressure and excellent management skills.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Chef & Food Services Manager, plan and execute daily production (frozen meals, hot and cold lunches, soups, catering contracts, desserts and cookies);
- Ensure quality control of these products;
- Respect food safety, hygiene and government safety standards;
- Supervise the closing of the kitchen at the end of the day;
- Complete administrative tasks, such as inputting information into the database, compiling statistics and preparing various reports;
- Solve operational problems and ensure efficient workflow in the kitchen.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a sous-chef or in a similar position;
- Solid culinary expertise and in-depth knowledge of food preparation techniques;
- The ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions and solve problems;
- Excellent management skills;
- A keen sense of organization, cleanliness and hygiene;
- Good oral and written communication skills in French and English;
- Has empathy, enthusiasm, the ability to listen and the desire to accompany people with mental health problems and experience with this population, whether this experience is in the context of employment, unpaid work or life experience;
- Is passionate about cooking and has many years of experience;
- Knowledge or experience of social integration;
- Already know or are comfortable learning new software (Microsoft Access, Outlook, Excel).
