Job Description:
As part of the Collective Impact Project (CIP), the mobilization agent’s mandate is to participate in the planning and implementation of projects/activities arising from the Roof for All initiative. The project aims to meet growing housing needs by supporting the expansion of community housing in the south of the West Island. It is primarily implemented through engagement with community housing partners, elected officials, planning departments and residents of the South West Island.
Responsibilities:
Awareness-raising and mobilization
- Implement engagement strategies with key stakeholders, such as elected officials, urban planners and community housing partners;
- Maintain links with key local players;
- Develop and implement a public engagement strategy to increase support for community housing in the region;
- Co-plan and participate in monthly CIP committee meetings with community housing partners;
- Create content for communication and awareness materials, including the monthly housing newsletter;
- Entertainment and event organization;
- Participate in the planning, promotion, animation and evaluation of events;
- Follow-up with event participants.
Research activities
- Support the development of research activities for the project;
- Conduct research on affordable housing and urban development issues;
- Create reports, briefing notes, infographics and other communication tools.
Administration and governance
- Participate in team meetings;
- Participate in fundraising efforts;
- Participate in the organization’s strategic thinking and in the development of action plans (as needed);
- Participate in overall project evaluation;
- Attend training sessions (when necessary);
- Represent the TQSOI on advisory bodies and committees and at related events;
- All other related tasks.
Requirements:
- University-level training in a program such as sociology, geography, urban planning, political science, public policy, social work or relevant work experience;
- Excellent knowledge of the Office suite and social media platforms;
- Experience in collective action and mobilization (group animation, facilitation, etc.);
- Demonstrate initiative, a high level of autonomy and creativity;
- Ability to perform tasks independently and in a timely manner;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Interest in affordable housing and social justice;
- Works well in teams, collaborates with others and maintains positive working relationships; Knowledge and interest in affordable housing and social issues and/or the West Island community is an asset;
- An interest or experience in urban planning is an asset;
- Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written, bilingualism required;
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
