The West Island Women’s Refuge (RFOI) is a non-profit organization that helps women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. We offer specialized support through a variety of services such as first-stage housing, second-stage apartments, socio-legal support from a lawyer and external follow-up services (without housing).

Responsibilities:
Intervention:
- Answer the line 24/7, ensure listening, intervention and referral;
- Admitting and welcoming women and children;
- Support the woman in her endeavors by fostering a positive, healthy and egalitarian relationship, as needed;
- Intervening in daily life, managing crises, sharing the experiences of women staying with us;
- Keep the women’s progress notes up to date;
- Carry out kitchen operations;
- Raise women’s awareness of the sanitation and upkeep of the Refuge;
- Intervene in disputes between women;
- Make regular rounds of the house (on all 3 floors) to assess the climate and intervene as needed;
Administration:
- Complete the statistical sheets corresponding to your shift;
- Complete the various house statistics;
- Assemble blank files to ensure constant availability;
- Complete communication tools;
- Compile material donation sheets;
- Participate in shift changes, Refuge team meetings and clinical supervisions.
Development :
- Participate in working committees within the team;
Qualifications
- Be currently studying at university or have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psycho-education, criminology, psychology, sexology or any other related field;
- Good command of French and English, other languages an asset;
- Experience in intervention and domestic violence is an asset.
- Desire to evolve within a feminist organization promoting the values of respect, equality, transparency and non-violence;
- Be able to organize your work and prioritize tasks;
- Being able to adapt to women’s realities ;
- Demonstrate autonomy, resourcefulness and initiative;
- Show respect, compassion, empathy and discretion.
Conditions:
- Salary starting at $22.57 / hour (at step 0) if bacc completed OR Salary starting at $21.68 / hour (at step 0) if bacc not completed ;
- 27.75 hours Friday to Sunday night shift ;
